lovely fragrance and warm glow soon filled the room with
the warming Christmas aromas of cinnamon, orange and

hours every evening after work for five evenings now and there

Natural ingredients
British company Pure Light produces scented candles using aromatherapy-grade essential oils and natural soy wax, which is biodegradable.
Wherever possible, the company uses oils derived from plants grown or distilled in the UK. Each hand-crafted candle comes in a recyclable glass jar with a lid to preserve its scent and to keep the candle dust-free. Burn time 50 hours. £20.

Pure Light candles, £22. One of the things I really don’t like about scented candles is the way they become dust-traps. So I really appreciate that this Pure Light candle comes with a metal lid that can cover it up when not in use – although frankly, the candle I’m enjoying is so addictive, there’s not much chance of it gathering dust on my desk. (The burn time is a generous 50 hours – and the candles burn evenly, unlike some I could mention.) My particular favourite is Bergamot, Grapefruit & Rosemary – a wonderful summery uplifting smell that’s great for the office, as it keeps me alert. But the all-natural scented candles also come in Lemongrass & Lime, Mandarin and Lavender, English Lavender and Cinnamon, Orange and Clove (a limited edition that almost – well, sort of – makes me look forward to Christmas). Pure Light promise the candles are made without any artificial ingredients at all, using soya wax. (In order to avoid the use of paraffin, some natural candles use palm wax – which has been linked with rainforest devastation.)
